Grounded In Nature Forest School

At Grounded in Nature Forest School, we believe in the power of outdoor learning to foster curiosity, creativity, and resilience. Our nature-based programs, led by qualified professionals, offer children and adults the opportunity to explore, play, and connect with the natural world. Through child-led exploration, we build confidence, independence, and a deep appreciation for nature while developing essential life skills.

More than just learning, Forest School offers something increasingly rare: time to slow down. In the woods, there’s no rush, no pressure to perform—just space to follow your own interests, to play, to wonder, and to simply be. It’s a chance to step away from busy schedules and rediscover the calm, grounding presence of nature. The forest becomes a gentle, magical space where connection happens naturally—between children, families, and the natural world—without needing an outcome.

Whether through weekly sessions, holiday camps, or special events, we provide enriching experiences that support holistic development and create lasting memories.

Testimonials

My 5 year old absolutely loves his forest school afternoons - it's his favourite day of the week! He's made great friends there and his confidence and independence have definitely grown. I feel at ease knowing that he's getting a good dose of nature during the week

Sinead

My son absolutely loves his time at forest school with Eithne and team! He’s always excited to learn about nature, and the hands-on activities like arts and crafts, building fires, cooking, and setting up camps keep him engaged. What we especially appreciate is that forest school continues in all weather, teaching kids that a little rain isn’t a problem when dressed right! It’s wonderful to see him burn off energy, rain or shine, and learn that the outdoors is there to enjoy no matter the weather. We’re so grateful for the confidence and resilience this experience builds in him.

Rita

Forest school has been fantastic for her. Confidence and skills have improved greatly. She looks forward to going every week and loves the camps in school holidays. Every child should get this opportunity to flourish in nature.

Anita

My son really enjoys Forest school, it's the one activity he wants to go back to again and again, he loves the freedom of being out in nature. He loves learning all about the forest; the plants, creatures, using the hammocks, the swing and the other equipment. He likes to sample the treats on offer that are cooked on the open fire especially the hot chocolate and pancakes and even banana bread! He just really enjoys it.

Forest school has taught me so much stuff. I think that if anyone doesn't do it they are missing out. We do fire lighting, whittling, roasting marshmallows, building dens, learning knots, art and playing. My favourite part is that you don't have to do anything if you don't want to, so basically you can spend all of the camp lying in a hammock.

Great outdoor experience that has given my child lots of confidence

My child has been attending two sessions a week of forest school for nearly two years now, and loves it. It offers an outdoor alternative, if your child is not really interested in specific sports activities, and there's an amazing sense of community. The knowledge about nature, wildlife and county lore, the team have passed on is so refreshing in a world dominated by social media, and Internet trivialities

Fantastic experience for kids, learning about the natural environment by exploring the outdoors. Climbing trees ,building camps from materials found in the woods, stories /chats around the campfire. Fun and enjoyable way for kids to make new friends and develop their skills and gain confidence on exploring the unknown. My son truly enjoys his time at forestry school, always smiling and the mucker the better.
